Health blog assessment

  1. In Health we have been learning about service and therapy animals. We have learned about what service Animals do and how they help people. We also watched a film named Gigi and Nate

Here is some evidence.

2. A service Animal is an Animal that has been trained to      help people with disability’s. They are also referred to be an assistance for people.

A therapy Animal is an Animal that help’s people to get better physically and psychologically. They are Animals that only come for visits

3. Unlike service Animals, therapy Animals don’t always live with the patient. Therapy Animals stay with an owner who allows there pet to go to help people in need.

4.  Service and therapy Animals can help with Social wellbeing (Taha Whanau) by making a good relation with the Animal which can help disabled people connect with others.  They can also help with mental and emotional  well-being (Taha Hinengaro) by helping the person think they have a worth or making the disabled person do some things they couldn’t.

5. In this unit I learned about a lot of new things. Especially that the  Service Animals are very helpful for disabled people.

The top four things that I learnt:

a) Service Animals actually sacrifice their lifetime in order to train to help people in need.

b) In different countries, service Animals could be any Animal like snakes or even Monkeys

c) Service Animals do gain fatigue after working for a person in need for a while.

d) Service Animals might change or sacrifice some of their own thoughts just to help the disabled people.

I found these points interesting because it is a bit unfair for them by helping people in need and sacrificing their own dreams and life for people in need.

Thank you for reading my blog and Thank you for being a great teacher this year, Mrs Aitken 🙂

Medicine Safety – Legend

P1

  1. Medicines are safe when used as prescribed or as directed on the label. There are risks in taking any medicine that is not prescribed by a doctor or a local GP.
  2. You should only have medicine when you need it. Not to have it for fun or use it for fun.
  3. Taking too much of the medicine can be really effective as well as it could cause you sickness and not a happy tummy.
  4. Taking the wrong medicine can affect you a lot as it is the wrong medicine and will kick in the wrong help you need.
  5. You should never mix up doses with medication as it is unpredictable and could be as dangerous as life threatening.
  6. You should always take your medicine on time if it had been prescribed for a timee. Sometimes it can cause pain to people who don’t have it on time.
  7. Always check if your having the right measurement of medication before you take it if it’s liquid or solid.

P2

1.  Keep them out of sight of your teenager.

2. Explain to them what medication can do if used wrongly.

3. Only give them medication when they need it so they understand it’s not used every now and then(if it’s a healthy         family)

DDA Task

  1. In Health we have been studying about Death, Dying, and the Afterlife. We have learned about some different cultural beliefs and traditions like about the smallpox, how deaths happened in the 1900s and the group tasks about the stages of grieve . Here are is the work proof.

2.  I have chosen to investigate about the Ancient Chinese hanging coffins.

Ancient Bo people hanging in coffins

In ancient China about 3000 years ago. There was a technique for when a person had passed away near  the Sichuan Province, south side of China . this technique was called xuanguan in Mandarin, or the hanging coffins technique.

How was this technique done?

After someone had passed away. The locals around the family of the deceased will help carry out the preserved body in a new polished wooden coffin.  The deceased was put in the coffin with some of its lifetime valuables and consumables they liked eating.

After this, the family would  walk the body up to a high cliff . The family would look at the deceased one more time and seal it up. A local with intent skills will put a rope on its hips and back tightly tied around him self with the corpse.

Then, they would be lowered down by more then a dozen strong men from the local village/area. The man getting lowered will look for an area to dig on the cliff side to keep the coffin on. After the body is put on, the man will be pulled up and brought onto land again.

Here are some images of them.

3.  Interesting pieces about the Hanging coffins.

  1. The hanging coffins were actually forgotten of and recently discovered in 1958.
  2. The Anicent people of China, or the Bo people say that the higher the Coffin on the cliff, the more sacred and heavenly it is.
  3. There is only 131 Hanging coffins left in the China. This means all those 131 coffins are very prestigious.
  4. You can do a tour around and check out the hanging coffins in Sichuan for only 18.90 Yuans or 4.30 nzd

4.There were a number of ways that I demonstrated respect towards other culture beliefs during this unit. I did this by accepting and listening to there cultural opinions and participating. We all tried to connect Socially (Taha Whanau), Mentally and emotionally (Taha Hinengaro). By showing the other persons culture respect. This could maybe be help there Taha Wairua and Taha Hinengaro because they would feel  accepted and think that we are here for them.

5.It is important that I take care of all areas of my hauora when I experience change, loss, or grief because if I don’t this could affect my future Socially (Taha Whanau), Mentally and emotionally (Taha Hinengaro). It is important to remember that not forget but move on from the past. Acceptance is a very key in the grieving stages.

I can take care of my hauora when I experience change, loss, or grief by keeping my clear. I do this by keeping my physically active like playing basketball. Sometimes cold showers can be very useful when in grieving stages. This keeps my Taha Tinana healthy and can help my Taha Hinengaro, while also keeping my Taha Whanau and Taha Wairua up.
